Java or Bedrock? What Minecraft version do I have?

There are two main versions of Minecraft: Minecraft Java and Minecraft Bedrock. Minecraft Bedrock is a combination of multiple Minecraft editions: Minecraft for Windows 10, Minecraft for iOS, Minecraft for Android, and more.

A user in Minecraft Java they cannot play with a user who is in Minecraft Bedrock. But if a user is on a PC using Minecraft Windows 10 Edition, they can play with a friend who is playing on an iOS device.

Q1) Are you playing on an iPad, iPhone, Android, Xbox, PlayStation or Nintendo Switch?

If Yes => You have Minecraft Bedrock.

Q2) Are you playing on a Mac (without using software like Parallels to emulate a PC)?

If Yes => You are using Minecraft Java.

Q3) If you are on a PC and hit the Windows Key (⊞) then search the word “Minecraft”

If it just says “Minecraft” => You have Minecraft Bedrock.
